Hello World

Robert Frost once wrote:
“The afternoon knows what the morning never suspected.”

This brief line inspires me to see my lost youth with appreciation rather than regret. I am in my early 50’s now and while some things are more difficult, or at least more accompanied by pain, many things have a light of perspective which were impossible in my early years.

I will tend to forget however. If I have gained wisdom in these years, I will need to remind myself of the fact. This is essentially why I decided to create this blog – to remind myself (and also… perhaps… you my reader) of the value of aging and to offer us both some encouragement and wisdom for the days ahead.

My approach will be fairly simple… book study. I will pick a book at a time which I feel fits in with both my theme and the current state of my thoughts and feelings. As I read the selected book, I will pull out quotes I find valuable in one way or another and then write a reflection from it.

If you my reader are also interested in going through the same study, I hope there is some way in which you will also share your reflections from the reading. Perhaps you might just write your thoughts in an email to your children or a friend or maybe you will start your own blog and share with us all.

As always, I hope to earn your appreciation.
